Russian President appeals for calm over Iran

BERLIN, November 9, 2011(Tehelkanews)

Russian President Dimitry Medvedev is warning against threatening Iran with the use of force in the standoff over its nuclear programme.Speaking in Berlin on Tuesday, Mr. Medvedev appealed for calm and a continuation of talks regarding both the Middle East peace process and the Iranian programme. His comments come ahead of a key report on Iran by the U.N.'s nuclear agency that is expected to suggest Iran made models of a nuclear warhead.

Mr. Medvedev said that "if someone is threatened it could have complex consequences, even provoke a conflict."Israel's Defence Minister today if the IAEA report does implicates Iran in bomb building no option should be taken off the table. But Mr. Medvedev said the threat of force could lead to a war, "and for the Middle East this would be a catastrophe".
