The ‘Diwali Celebration Function 2011’ was celebrated at Everest Pb. Sr. Sec. School

The 'Diwali Celebration Function 2011' was celebrated at Everest Pb. Sr. Sec. School, Moti Nagar, Ludhiana on 24th Oct. 2011 with great pomp & show. The tiny-tots came in the colourful dresses. The students also performed colourful programme of dance, skits & advertisements etc. The teacher delivered short stories about Shri Rama.

On this occasion Lakshmi Pooja, the worship of the goddess of wealth, is the main event. Students are advised that it is extremely important to keep the house spotlessly clean and pure on Diwali. Goddess Lakshmi likes cleanliness, and she will visit the cleanest house first. This is also the reason why the broom is worshiped on this day with offerings of haldi and kumkum. Lamps are lit in the evening to welcome the goddess. They are believed to light up her path. Ganesha is worshiped at the beginning of every auspicious act as Vighnaharta.

Cakes and sweets were distributed among the children. Mrs. Asha Sharma, Principal also explained the duties of students and told them how they would achieve their aims by following the noble path guided by Lord Rama. Sh. Rajinder Krishan Sharma, President, Association of PSEB Affiliated Schools of Punjab (Regd.) gave prizes to the tiny tots.
