POST GRADUATE DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE AND BUSINESS INNOVATIONS

Two days workshop on "Quantitative Skills for Business Innovations" which was organized by the Post Graduate Department of Commerce and Business Innovations ended on Sunday i.e. 30th October, 2011. The workshop was organized for the benefit of the students of M.Com Business innovations to upgrade their quantitative skills to sharpen their ability to take quick decisions in their management career. In the second day, Dr. Gursharanjeet Singh Eminent Mathematical experts presented his views on functions and parabolas and also shared his experience about latest developments in the quantitative field in the light of development of information technology. Quantitative Expert Dupinder Gujral presented her views on Binomial theorem and its applications in business. The workshop was divided into two segments. The first segment, in the first segments students were involved in the use of quantitative models for decision making. They were given quantitative problems concerning the managerial decisions and were divided into groups to make presentations under the guidance of subject experts. In all eleven quality circles were formed to make presentations and students were evaluated by the experts. The second segment involved the discourses by the subject experts and discussion with the students regarding their practical problems. Both the external and internal faculty of the department was been engaged in conducting the workshop. While giving the details about the workshop, Principal of the College Mrs. Jasbir Kaur Makkar told that department of Business innovations is using modern methodology of teaching which include: workshops, seminars, and group discussion, lecture methods, discourses by the experts both from industry and academic field. Dr. Ashwani Bhalla, Programme Coordinator of the M.Com Business Innovations told that experience of organizing student's workshops on various technical and non-technical issues is giving fruitful results as the personality of the students is grooming day by day and their thought process is developing new ides which is helpful in developing the curriculum and intellectual capital. Dr. Bhalla told that in the coming weeks two more workshops on "Managerial Skills and Personality Development" and Entrepreneurship, Creativity and Innovations in Business will be organized.
