\'Bangkok\'s streets totally dry in two weeks’

BANGKOK, November 16, 2011(Tehelkanews)

Bangkok's governor says flood waters in Thailand's capital are continually receding and all main streets will be dry in two weeks long-overdue good news after weeks of inundation that have killed 564 people nationwide.

Flooding that began in late July has affected more than 13 million people, attracted international attention and scared away many tourists. Parts of Bangkok have flooded, and there had been fears that water could reach the entire city.

But the Bangkok Metropolitan Authority reported on its website Wednesday that the city's flood situation has improved. Gov. Sukhumbhand Paribatra says Bangkok's main streets will be dry in two weeks.

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton is travelling to Thailand on Wednesday to express solidarity.
