Oberoi’s lavish wedding

Thousands of crystals, flowers imported from abroad and LCD screens at the venue — Vivek and Priyanka's wedding was a grand affair. Actor Vivek Oberoi, who wedded Bangalore girl Priyanka Alva — now Priyanka Oberoi — on Friday, is on cloud nine. While the actor has resumed work and Priyanka is settling in the Oberoi house in Mumbai, guests at the wedding cannot stop raving about the magnificence of the Alva farmhouse — the wedding venue.

According to a guest, the lush farhouse in Bangalore has an Olympic sized pool, a baseball field, a football field, massive lawns and 60 palm trees, all of which were decorated with lights and flowers brought in from Czecheslovakia and Italy.

The mandap was decorated with 25,000 Swarovski crystals and LCD screens were put up in the vicinity so that guests could watch the rituals from a distance. Rangolis, designed by professionals as well as family members, adorned the venue.

The menu for the evening was vegetarian, with a spread of South Indian and North Indian cuisine. There was a different counter for traditional Kannad dishes.

Among the guests, actor Sushmita Sen dazzled in a pink sari. She was accompanied by her daughter, Renee, who wore a white frock. Film-maker Mani Ratnam was spotted with actor Poonam Dhillon during most of the evening. Politicians, including Rajeev Deshpande, Mayor S Nataraj, Venkaiah Naidu and Katta Subramanya Naidu, also attended the ceremony.

The evening ended with Priyanka performing the traditional Punjabi kalire ceremony.
