Government College to Launch M.Com (Business Innovations)

Under the Innovative Programme-Teaching & Research in Interdisciplinary and Emerging Areas, of the University Grants Commission, SCD Government College Ludhiana will be launching a New Post Graduate Programme M.Com (Business Innovations) from the academic year 2011-12 with affiliation to Panjab University Chandigarh. Principal of the SCD Government College Ludhiana Mrs Jasbir Kaur Makkar told that the master\'s degree M.Com (Business Innovations) program will provides critical thinking and business skills outside normal high-tech curricula. It is a professionally oriented program which develops the diversified analytical skills and competencies required to gain insight and intelligence into the operations of a modern business enterprise. She told that University Grants Commission has agreed to support the proposal for starting M.Com (Business Innovations) at the Department of Commerce, SCD Government College Ludhiana and provide the financial assistance to the college for a period of five years .i.e 1.04.2011 to 31.03.2016 the letter for which was received today at the college. Mrs Makkar Congratulated the Head of the commerce department Prof. R.K. Miglani and Programme Co-ordinator Dr. Ashwani Bhalla along with faculty members for getting the grant of to the tune of Rs. 39 lacs (Recurring plus Non-recurring ) along with the salary of two lecturers in the scale of 15600-39100 in the grade pay of Rs. 6000 for five years which in total becomes around 75 lacs. Mrs Makkar told that it is big feather in the cap of the Department of commerce and the programme will have far reaching impact on teaching as it will be having industry institute collaborative programme where faculty of the college will have the chance to interact with industry experts, know their requirements, identify their core areas of research and the research projects will become collaborative in nature. The Programme will not only help to produce quality executives for the business organizations but will also prepare trainers to impart training to managerial persons working in the various business establishments she added. Programme coordinator of M.Com (Business Innovations) Dr. Ashwani Bhalla who designed Course curriculum of the Programme said that curriculum is designed for students who want to broaden their knowledge of the business world through an interdisciplinary and an international perspective. Students acquire the skills required to undertake activities related with innovation management in any kind of organization.
