MBA ADMISSIONS IN THE STATE SHOULD BE DONE THROUGH CAT/MAT

Admissions in various management institutes of Punjab should be done at centralized level either through MAT or CAT Entrance tests said Dr K.N.S.Kang, Director General, PCTE Group Of Institutes, Dr Balram Dogra, Director ApeeJay Institute of Management, Jalandhar and Prof. Vipin Dewan, Director, CMTR, Mohali.

Dr Kang, Dr Dogra and Prof Dewan suggested that admissions in various management institutes of Punjab should be done at centralized level through MAT or CAT at national level. They quoted that system of admissions in various engineering colleges of the state has already changed. The CET (State level test) being conducted by PTU Jalandhar for admission in various engg colleges has been scraped and all the admissions are done at National level through AIEEE. This system will improve the process of admission in various engg colleges of the state and multiplicity of tests would not be there.

They said that if something can be done on same grounds in management field, will definitely improve the admission process, the Institutes in Punjab will also get more exposure outside the state.

The directors of Management institutes informed that (Management Entrance Test) is conducted for approx 150 management institutes in Punjab and out this 90% institutes fall under the Punjab Technical University Jalandhar. They informed that from the last six years the MET Test is conducted late and admission in various colleges of Punjab Technical University is delayed. This causes delay in start of session and ultimately institutes under PTU face problems in completion of syllabus and fulfillment of criterion of minimum no of lectures. Students of the university too face lots of problems because of this delayed start of session.
