LEFT PARTIES PROTEST AGAINST US HEGEMONY, DEMAND FROM INDIAN GOVERNMENT NOT TO SURRENDER

The Communist Party of India (CPI) and Communist Party of India Marxist (CPIM) have strongly opposed US government policy to make India a strategic partner in their designs and demanded of the government of India not to surrender to the US hegemony. As a part of the nationwide campaign to observe 8th November as anti imperialist day, hundreds of workers of the two parties staged a dharna at the Mini Secretariat today. Various speakers while addressing the dharna warned that the deals to be finalized between the two governments during the visit of President Barrack Obama will further push India into an open market of the US multinational corporations (MNCs). The US administration serves the interests of Military Industrial Complex and the big monopoly houses who dictate their policies which are implemented by the government in power. The visit of Mr. Obama has to be seen in the light of all these developments.

The nuclear deal is going to be the main agenda during his visit. Under the influence of the US government, Indian parliament was made to pass the nuclear liability bill in a hasty manner to please the US government. But the US administration is not satisfied even with that and wants to dilute the clauses further to their interest and they do not want to commit to any liability as a supplier. The US administration has recently supplied latest arms to Pakistan and now they want to supply us the arms. This will add to arms race in the region. It clearly shows the sinister design of the US government to do business in the arms at the cost of poor people of South Asia. This has already happened in the Latin American countries where they would supply the arms to the government and rebels in the same shipment.

Their talk of fighting terrorism together is a hoax. They never shared the information about David Hadley with us who was being used as a double agent in time otherwise 26 November terrorist attack on Mumbai could have been averted. Everyone knows that they armed the Taliban to spread terror in the region. For them there was no terrorism in the world till 9/11 and now all their policies revolve around the talk of terrorism. On the pretext of fighting terrorism they did aggression on Iraq and Afghanistan. An agreement with the US on the issue of joint struggle against terrorism will bind us and weaken our internal security secrecy. They have made it public that they would open the offices of CIA & FBI in our country. This will endanger our secrecy and undermine the integrity of our forces which are finest in the world.

The speakers warned that the US President has made it amply clear that he is coming to India to double their export and thus job opportunities to the US citizens. He has made no commitment to support India's claim for a permanent seat in the UN Security Council rather he has put off the matter by saying that it is a very complicated issue. He has made similar statement on the issue to dual use technology.

The speakers further criticized the Indian government for not taking up the issue of extradition of Warren Anderson seriously during the visit of President Obama.

The US wants to bring its education cartel as a big business. Indian people's need in education requires basic reforms with increased public spending and not education business. They are also itching for more concessions in the field of agriculture to export to India which is detrimental to our peasantry.
