PAU MOURNS SARDARNI SURINDER KAUR BADALS’ DEATH

LUDHIANA, MAY 25:-----



PAU Vice-Chancellor-cum-Financial Commissioner (Development) Mr N.S. Kang and varsity officers, scientists, employees and students, today expressed their deep grief and sorrow over the sad demise of Sardarni Surinder Kaur Badal, wife of Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal and mother of Deputy Chief Minister (Punjab) Sukhbir Singh Badal. Extending their heartfelt condolences, they said that it was an irreparable loss for the Badal family and prayed for the peace of departed soul.



Mr Kang said that Bibi Surinder Badal had been instrumental in the establishment of Museum of Social History and Rural life of Punjab at PAU, setting up of the Home Science College at Kauni and development of Horticulture in the state. A member of PAU Board of Management from Februray 1971 to March 1974, she was a staunch supporter of the cause of farmers and farming of the state and made tremendous contribution for the upliftment of the rural women, added Mr Kang.



PAU Registrar Dr R.K. Mahey, Director of Research, Dr S.S.Gosal and Director of Extension Education, Dr M.S. Gill, Dean of Post Graduate Studies, Dr Gurshran Singh, Director Students' Welfare, Dr P.S. Aulakh, Additional Director of Communication, Dr Jagtar Singh Dhiman, and the Deans of the constituent colleges of university namely Dr D.S. Cheema (Agriculture), Dr PPS Lubana (Agricultural Engineering and Technology), Dr R.S. Sidhu (Basic Sciences and Humanities) and Dr Neelam Grewal (Home Science) mourned the death of Bibi Surinder Kaur Badal and expressed their condolences to the members of the bereaved family.
