STUDENTS DEVELOP CONFIDENCE THROUGH CREATIVE EXPRESSION: DR. MAHEY

LUDHIANA, MAY 25:-----



The Punjabi attire has been appreciated for its rich colours and designs throughout the world that reflect creativity of the maker and wearer. This was stated by the PAU Registrar, Dr. R.K.Mahey who was the Chief Guest during Tantuja-2011, a creative fashion display organized by the Department of Clothing and Textiles, in the Pal Auditorium, last evening. He congratulated the budding designers and said that fashion designing is a sunrise sector that has an immense scope for further advancement through creativity, commitment and consistency. The event presented fascinating creations of B. Sc. (Hons.) Fashion Designing final year students. Twelve young designers took part in the competition for the title of best designer that was adjudged by a panel of judges including Dr. S.K.Mann, former Dean, College of Home Science, Ms Sonu Gandhi, a city based fashion stylist and Ms Jasbir Kaur Dhiman, of Guru Nanak Girls College, Ludhiana. The themes chosen for the competition included music, marine life, angels, sea shells, deserts, butterflies, army, boles and barks, mughal-e-azam, architecture and east meets west.



Ms Sakshi Sharma was declared the best designer of the Tantuja-2011 for recreating the grandeur of mughal-e-azam. She shared her views and said that the faculty of Clothing and Textiles took personal interest and pains to enable her to compete.



The Dean, College of Home Science, Dr. Neelam Grewal congratulated Sakshi and admired her creations. She appreciated the efforts of the department for organizing the first show by the students successfully. The show had been supervised by Drs. Surbhi Mahajan and Sumit Grewal.
