PAU INITIATES E-LEARNING PROGRAMME IN HOME SCIENCE

The Staff Council of College of Home Science, in collaboration with the Department of Home Science Extension Education organized a training course on \'Integrating Modular Approach in to e-learning\'. The concluding function of the training programme was held today. Dr. Manjit Singh Kang, Vice-Chancellor, PAU presided over the function. In his remarks, Dr. Kang said that incorporation of e-learning is the need of the hour. He further elaborated that to communicate the ideas and to share the thoughts; e-learning plays a vital role. Dr. Kang further said that e-learning is a handsome tool for the teachers to impart training regarding the website, internet, E-ROME, etc. Congratulating the organizers for tailoring such a valuable training in the College. Dr. Kang said that PAU is a leading University as far as e-communication is concerned. The Department of Agrometeorology is also developing e-modules for different stages of wheat and rice and the information will be made available through PAU website.



Dr. Neelam Grewal, Dean, College of Home Science while welcoming the guests said that the incorporation of E-learning in the curriculum increases the interests of the students toward different disciplines. She elaborated that College of Home Science of PAU is the first amongst the Home Science College to take lead in starting e-learning. The Technical Coordinator of the programme was Dr. (Mrs.) Varinder Randhawa, Head, Department of Home Science Extension Education. Dr. Randhawa gave the detailed description of the programme organized. In the concluding function the participants also made a presentation regarding the e-learning. During the programme, Dr. Raj Kumar Mahey, Registrar, PAU, Dr. Milkha Singh Aulakh, Dean, College of Agriculture, Dr. P.P.S. Lubana, Dean, College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, Dr. Rajinder Singh Sidhu, Dean, College of Basic Sciences and Humanities were also present on the occasion.
