Bajaj, Bedi move pleas to quash FIR

PANCHKULA: More than five months after an attempt-to-murder case was registered against Ranjit Bajaj, both the parties seem to have reached a compromise as they moved separate affidavits before Punjab and Haryana High Court for quashing the FIR.

The complainant, Gurmohan Bedi, the son of sitting HC judge MMS Bedi, had levelled the charges against Bajaj on January 30 after a clash was reported between the two during a party.

A senior officer of Panchkula police said Bajaj and Bedi recently filed their affidavits before HC, where Bajaj\'s plea is pending for quashing of FIR. Both reportedly informed the court that they did not want any action against each other, the officer added.

Bajaj\'s plea reportedly stated that both the parties had struck a compromise and they did not want any action each other, requesting that the FIR registered at Chandimandir police station be quashed.

Panchkula police had earlier informed the court that both the parties had entered into an agreement, and that apart from Bajaj, two of his guards had also got bail in the matter.

Earlier, two of Bajaj\'s friends withdrew their complaint against Bedi from Panchkula district courts on April 9. Bajaj got the bail the same day. The Bajajs had also taken back their plea from Supreme Court wherein they had demanded shifting the case from Punjab and Haryana HC.

On January 30, Panchkula police had booked Bajaj for attempting to murder Gurmohan at North Park Hotel, Panchkula. The same day, Bajaj\'s friends moved a complaint against Bedi, claiming he had misbehaved with them and that the accused had come to their rescue. After evading arrest for a long time, Bajaj was finally caught from his Chandigarh house.
