Punjab Agricultural University organizes need-based training and refresher courses on different themes for the benefit of farmers and farm women. During August, 2010 a number of such programmes have been formulated. The Directorate of Extension Education will organize a refresher course on August 3-4 at Kairon Kisan Ghar wherein 35 participants will participate. The Director of Extension Education, Dr. M.S.Gill said that the course will focus on nutrition for pregnant women and lactating mothers, low cost diets, physical and psychological care of mothers, feeding and immunization of infants, sterilization of feeding bottles, nutrition related disorders, etc. by the experts.
A training camp of PAU Kisan Club will be held on August 5 at the Wheat Auditorium wherein the PAU experts will highlight the role of cooperative agriculture for minimizing production costs, water borne diseases, plant protection of Kharif crops, organic agriculture and the procedure for standards and certification, marketing, processing of foods, bee-keeping and opportunities for PAU Kisan Club Members. The subject matter specialists of PAU will highlight these important topics through their deliberations. The ladies wing members of the Club will also meet and review the last months progress. Special lecture on health care through acupressure and textile fabrics will be organized, said Dr. Gill adding that a competition on folk songs and cultural activities related to the month of sawan will be organized on the occasion.
