PAU WILL PROVIDE VIRUS FREE PLANTS OF KINNOW: DR. AULAKH

The Horticulturist of Punjab Agricultural University suggested that the water should be drained out from the area of fruit plants. This information was given by Dr. Pushpinder Singh Aulakh, Head, Department of Horticulture. He further suggested that the fruit plants need more attention during the rainy season because stagnant water may cause damage to the fruit plants which may result in poor quality of fruit. Dr. Aulakh further suggested that the farmers should grow new fruit plants during the month of August as this month is best suitable for the plantation which results in protection of the plants from certain diseases. He further elaborated that during the rainy season due to the fungus infection, the diseases like citrus canker and scab may harm the plants. The infected plants should be treated by spraying blitox. Dr. Aulakh further informed that the University will provide virus free plants to the farmers and these plants will be available for them during next month.
