Ludhiana, October 1:
Officials from Zonal Technology Management and Business Planning and
Development Unit (ZTMBPDU) of Indian Agricultural Research Institute
(IARI) visited Central Institute of Post Harvest Engineering and
Technology (CIPHET) to screen technologies developed by the institute.
During their visit, a delegation consisting of four members visited
research facilities available at the institute and saw processing
technologies developed by the institute. "The aim of our visit was to
screen technologies having higher potential at ICAR institutes of
north zone (including states of Punjab, Delhi, Haryana, Himachal
Pardesh and J&K) to popularize them through print and electronic
media," said Dr Archana Suman, Principal Scientist IARI, adding that
this helps in ensuring that technologies reaches to the end users. "We
are in process of indentifying these technologies, but processing
technologies of guava bars, powdering technology onion, garlic, ginger
powder and groundnut milk seems to be promising."
Dr Sanjay Kumar, Principal Scientist IARI, said that last year they
had popularized pomegranate aril extractor developed by the CIPHET.
Also, he said that during ICAR-Industrial meet they try to encourage
entrepreneurs to adopt technologies screened by them throughout the
region. He said that they found that tomato processing plant at CIPHET
could work as great training facility for entrepreneurs. "We will
encourage them to come here," he added. Other members of the
delegation included Dr Pramod Kumar, Senior Scientist IARI and
Digamber Prashad Senior Research Fellow. Dr D.M Kadam, Incharge of
Institute Technology Management Unit (ITMU), provided the required
information to visiting officials.
