Motorola Quench vs. Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 vs. Samsung Galaxy 3 vs. HTC Wildfire

While Google\'s Android mobile operating system started out on smartphones that weren\'t exactly affordable, over the course of time more and more Android smartphones have entered into the realm of affordability. Smartphones like the new Motorola Quench XT3, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X8, the HTC Wildfire and the Samsung Galaxy 3, all sport different versions of the Android OS, sport customized UIs and have a wide array of features.

Let\'s take a brief look at them:



1. OS: While all the above mentioned smartphones sport the Android OS, they have different versions. The Motorola Quench XT3 comes with Android 1.6 but that\'s upgradable to Android 2.1. The Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 also comes with Android 1.6 while the HTC Wildfire and the Samsung Galaxy 3 come with Android 2.1.



2. Hardware: The Motorola Quench XT3 and the Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 are powered by a 600MHz processor and have 256MB and 168MB of RAM respectively. The HTC Wildfire falls a little short in terms of processing power with a 528MHz processor but has a more respectable 384MB of RAM. The Samsung Galaxy 3 stands tall with a 667MHz processor but has to make do with 256MB of RAM.



3. Camera: The HTC Wildfire stands out in terms of camera specs with a 5MP auto-focus camera and an LED flash. The Motorola Quench XT3 also has a flash to aid its 3.15MP fixed focus camera. The Samsung Galaxy 3 has a 3.15MP auto-focus camera but no flash and the Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 has a fixed focus 3.15MP camera and no flash.



4. Display: The HTC Wildfire, the Samsung Galaxy 3 and the Motorola Quench XT3 all have 3.2-inch displays while the Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 gets left behind with a 3-inch display. In terms of resolution, the Xperia X8 (320x480) and the Quench XT3 (320x480) stand side by side but the Wildfire and the Galaxy 3 are beset by a lower resolutions of 320x240 and 240x400 respectively. The good news is that all four phones have capacitive touchscreens and 16M color displays (except for the Quench which has a 256K color display).



5. Battery: Finally, on to the battery capacity of each phone- the Galaxy 3 wins out with a 1500mAh battery. The HTC Wildfire comes next with a 1300mAh battery followed by the Motorola Quench XT3's 1270mAH battery and the Sony Ericsson Xperia X8's 1200mAh battery.



6. Price: The Samsung Galaxy 3 is the lowest priced of the lot at Rs. 11,899, followed by the Motorola Quench XT3 at Rs. 12,449. The rear is brought up by the Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 at Rs. 13,950 and the HTC Wildfire at Rs. 14,999.
