STUDENTS REGISTER THEIR FINE ART TALENT IN PAU YOUTH-FEST

In the ten-day Youth Festival that is ongoing at Punjab Agricultural University, students of the constituent colleges showcased their talents in a variety of events of fine arts. The subjects touched by them ranged from environment to patriotism. The Director Students Welfare, Dr. P.P.S. Lubana said that students are alive to the contemporary issues such as female foeticide, fashion, corruption, national integration that they reflected from their presentations involving collage making, cartooning, painting, poster making, clay modeling, rangoli, etc. Although, PAU is not an art University, yet it has produced artists of high caliber, said Dr. Lubana.



During the competitions involving fine arts held at PAU during the past three days, Dr. P.K.Khanna, Coordinator of Research (Basic Sciences), Dr. (Mrs.) Ravinder Kaur Dhaliwal, Controller of Examination, Dr. H.S.Dhaliwal, Additional Director of Extension Education presided over different events. In the photography event, which was held for the first time in the University, students showed keen interest in trees, roots, leaves, twigs and other objects of Nature that they captured through the lens of their cameras. The team of eminent artists including Principal Gurwinder Kaur, Photo Artist, Tej Partap Singh Sandhu, Social Activist, Dr. Karnail Singh Kalsi, Artist, Prof. Gurcharan Singh, Mrs. Manjit Kaur performed the duty of Judges and provided useful tips to students. The Deputy Director (Public Relations) and Cultural Coordinator, Dr. Nirmal Singh Jaura informed that the events of music, folk dances and stage performances will take place in the open-air-theatre of the University. Dr. M.S.Toor, Dr. Rajinder Kaur Kalra, Dr. Nilesh Biwalkar, Dr. Sukhjit Kaur, Mr. Kulwant Singh Basra, Mr. Satbir Singh were among the audience comprising students and faculty members from different departments.
