PAU TRAINING PROGRAMMES FOR FARMERS DURING NOVEMBER

LUDHIANA, OCTOBER 27:-----



The Punjab Agricultural University organizes training programmes for farmers and farm women from time to time. It has planned diverse trainings for the month of November, 2010. Giving details, the Director of Extension Education, Dr. M.S.Gill said that four trainings scheduled for the month are \'Operation and maintenance of submersible pumps and electric motors\' (November 10-12), for Junior Engineers/Technicians/ Mechanics of Department of Agriculture, \'Mushroom marketing and processing\' (November 18-19) for Horticultural Development Officers, \'Precision farming\' (November 25-26) for Horticultural/Agricultural Development Officers and \'Protected cultivation of vegetable crops\' (November 29-30). Dr. Gill said that the Course Coordinator for training on mushroom marketing and protected cultivation will be Dr. V.K.Bhambota while for others, Dr. Satish Gupta and Dr. V. Bector. The participants will present themselves for registration at 9.00 a.m. on the first day of the programme at Kairon Kisan Ghar, said Dr. Gill adding that the lodging and boarding arrangement will be made on the University campus on payment basis. The experts of the University will provide useful tips and technical guidance to the participants.



Meanwhile, the Research and Extension Specialists Workshop for Vegetable, Fruits and Flower Crops will be held on November 2-3 which will be inaugurated by Dr. Manjit Singh Kang, Vice-Chancellor, PAU while the Director of Horticulture, Punjab, Dr. L.S.Brar will share the targets of production for the year and highlight the problems. The Director of Research will highlight the research achievements while the subject matter specialists will present latest findings on fruit crops, vegetables, ornamentals, etc. with their deliberations in different technical sessions. The new technologies will be displayed through exhibitions and will be discussed in light of the feed back received from field level functionaries.
