First tablet device from Samsung

New Delhi : Samsung Electronics on Friday launched its first tablet device Galaxy Tab powered by the latest Android operating system and priced at Rs.38,000. The device brings together all of Samsung\'s leading innovations to provide users with more capabilities while on the move.

"Consumers are able to experience PC-like web-browsing and enjoy all forms of multimedia content on 7-inch TFT-LCD display screen. Users can create and edit all office documents, while its high resolution screen delivers exciting mobile experience for watching films, viewing pictures, e-reading or sharing documents," said company Director (Mobile and IT) Ranjit Yadav. Moreover, users can continuously communicate via e-mail, voice and video call, SMS/MMS or social network with the optimised user interface. More than one lakh Android Market applications were accessible on the Galaxy Tab which offered consumers huge scope for customising their Galaxy Tab as per their needs, he added.

Stating that India is one of the first three markets where in the world where the Galaxy Tab is being launched, Samsung India Director B. D. Park said: "The device is set to change the lifestyle of our Indian consumers — the way they work, they play, the way they spend their time at home and the way they carry their world with them."

"We are also launching the Galaxy Tab in select IT channel along with the Samsung smartphone partner mobile channel. Leading Indian operators such as Airtel, Aircel, Vodafone, Tata DOCOMO and RCom will be announcing exciting offers and data plans with the Galaxy Tab. The sale of this device begins on November 10," Mr. Yadav added.
