EXTENSION EXPERTS SHARE USEFUL FEEDBACK IN STATE LEVEL REVIEW MEET HELD AT PAU

For agricultural growth and prosperity of farmers, an intimate liaison between farmers and farm experts is a must. This was stated by the Director of Extension Education, Dr. M.S.Gill who was chairing the state level meeting of Extension Experts from PAU regional stations, Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), Farm Advisory Service Scheme (FASS) in different parts of the state. Dr. Gill said that field level functionaries have a responsibility of carrying forward their observations and ground level feedback to the experts in order to make a shift in their research and technology transfer programmes to make them need based and farmer oriented. He said that in the near future the PAU will conduct a survey on the adoption of four technologies namely use of tensiometer for regulating irrigation in paddy, of leaf colour chart for applying need-based nitrogen to paddy, mechanical transplanting and direct seeding. He suggested extension workers to send flash messages in the event of the outbreak of any alarming crop pest or disease so that farmers could act timely to save their crops. He thanked the Extension Specialists present in the meeting for their positive role in making the PAU Kisan Melas at Ludhiana and outstations, a great success. Those who shared their views in the meeting included Additional Director of Communication, Dr. Jagtar Singh Dhiman, Additional Director of Extension Education, Dr. H.S.Dhaliwal, Coordinator Research (Basic Sciences), Dr. P.K.Khanna and various Heads of Department of constituent colleges of PAU. Dr. Kanwal Mahindra proposed his vote of thanks.
