CBI gets more time to quiz MCI chief

NEW DELHI: The CBI on Wednesday was allowed to interrogate Ketan Desai— president of Medical Council of India— and three others for three more days by a trial court in connection with alleged transaction of Rs 2 crore meant for according recognition to a Punjab-based private medical college.

The CBI, which had produced the accused after the completion of five-day police custody, got an extension in custodial interrogation after the agency alleged that the accused were not co-operating. Seeking police remand, the CBI counsel said that they have got information on one man, who was mediator between the MCI chief and private college authorities.
