CANADIAN PUNJABI EDITOR INTERACTS WITH DR. KANG

LUDHIANA, FEBRUARY 11:(Anmol Singh)

The Chief Editor of the Canadian Punjabi daily \'Punjabi Post\', Mr. Jagdish Grewal, visited Punjab Agricultural University and had an interaction with Dr. Manjit Singh Kang, Vice-Chancellor, PAU on a wide ranging subjects. He said that there were many alumni from PAU working in different areas in Canada and that his paper acts as an information window for them. Mr. Grewal said that his paper is brought out every day and carries coverage about PAU which is of great source of information to the PAU alumni. He appreciated the Centre for Communication and International Linkages of PAU for feeding them regularly about the PAU activities. \'Media can play a great role in the propagation of scientific temperament among people and for that the empowerment of media sector needs a renewed focus\', said Mr. Grewal adding that PAU is held in high esteem by Punjabi settled in Canada in general and PAU alumni in particular. He mentioned that there is feeling among the NRI Punjabis to support PAU which has significant programmes for the betterment of farmers and farming of Punjab. He said that wherever Punjabis have settled, have created a niche of credibility in society.

Dr. Kang welcomed Mr. Grewal and elaborated that Punjabis and PAU alumni have contributed in scientific, cultural, artistic and literary fields. He welcomed any support to PAU that the NRI Punjabis wanted to offer. Dr. Kang appreciated the role played by Punjabi papers abroad in disseminating the worth of Punjabi language, culture and heritage. Present in the interaction meeting were Dr. Jagtar Singh Dhiman, Additional Director of Communication, Dr. Nirmal Singh Jaura, Deputy Director (PR), Mr. Gurbhajan Singh Gill, Editor (Punjabi) and Dr. Sarabjit Singh, Associate Professor of Journalism.
