Swastika Khosla was adjudged best all rounder student of the year 2010-2011

Annual Prize Distribution Function was held in Govt. College for Women, Ludhiana here today. Mr. Harish Rai Dhanda, (Parliamentry Secretary, Local Bodies), was the chief guest and Mrs. Vijay Dhanda was the guest of honour on this occasion. College Principal Mrs. Guminder Kaur welcomed the chief guest and the guest of honour. Speaking on this occasion Mr. Dhanda said that when students achieve something teachers and parents feel proud and happy. He further said that education and other activities are very important for the overall development of the students. He said that the honorable chief minister is very serious for the development of infrastructure in various govt. colleges. All the demands of this college, regarding infrastructure and other requirements will be met in the near future. New courses will be introduced in this college from 2012. He said that there is a need of quality education in schools and colleges. The Chief Minister of Punjab appointed Mr. Krishan Kumar IAS, Director General Education of the schools for the development of school education. Due to the efforts of Punjab Govt. and Director General, Education Punjab is at number one position in India in school education. He further said that three years ago there were blank faces of the students in the schools but now due to \'Parho Punjab\' scheme and appointment of 46,000 teachers, now people of Punjab have started preferring Govt. schools over private schools. He announced Rs. 1 Lakh for the prizes of the students.
