COLLECTIVE EFFORTS TO SOLVE INTER-STATE MATTERS NEEDED: JASSOWAL

LUDHIANA, JULY 23:------

\'The smoldering issues between Punjab and Haryana need to be handled collectively with a harmonious approach. The things should be discussed across the table\'. These expressions were made jointly by S. Jagdev Singh Jassowal, and Hardial Singh Aman, respectively Chairman and Secretary General of Vishav Sabhyacharak Manch.

they were discussing about the current problem of Hansi-Butana canal between Punjab and Haryana. a cordial approach can sort out all issues, said S. Jassowal. the Punjab and Haryana should behave as elder and younger brothers and the leaders of these two states should think and act in a national perspective, said he. Jassowal added that the lingering matters of Chandigarh, returning the Punjabi speaking areas to Punjab, steps to promote Punjabi in these states, etc. require a broad-based approach. Mr Aman laid emphasis on the rich heritage of Punjab adding that our youngsters must be motivated to follow it. the need of the hour is to protect our younger generations from the rampant social evils such as drug addiction, lack of work culture, and diminishing respect for elders. there is a need to inculcate in them an interest to work for the country and to develop a patriotic fervor that is on the decline in these days, he said adding that unnecessary expenditure on elections related activities should be rationalized as it will promote corruption. S. Jassowal laid stress on expediting the ear-marked development activities on fast track so that our people get benefit of that.

the Chairperson of Ludhiana Citizen Council, Mr Darshan Arora said that politics means service to people but there is a decline in the delivery by most political parties. This, he said, develops disgust in the minds of people. he gave full support to the ideas and programs slated by the Vishav Sabhyacharak Manch. S. Jassowal said that a massive symposium has been planned shortly to discuss the role of political parties, religious bodies, intellectuals, social workers and others concerned with the well being and welfare of Punjab, can play in the right direction to make Punjab a state of glory and prestige.
