Ludhiana MP and the National spokesperson of the Indian National Congress Manish Tewari today said improving the infrastructure in government schools was quite important and one of his top most priorities. He said, although there had been a phenomenal growth in private educational sector the government schools still continue to the bulwark of the country\'s education system.



Addressing a function after laying the foundation stone for new blocks in Jawahar Lal Nehru Kanya Senior Secondary School and Govt. Senior Secondary School (Boys) in Jawahar Nagar here today, he expressed confidence that the government schools will continue to improve upon their performance. He said, the government schools need to be better equipped to be better result oriented.



Tewari also announced a grant of Rs 2 lakhs each for the 2 schools from his discretionary fund.



Speaking on the occasion, the District Congress Committee President Ludhiana (Urban) Pawan Dewan congratulated the school authorities for good performance. He said, Ludhiana was fast turning into a great education centre and the government schools were playing an important role.



Prominent among those present on the occasion included Principal Barjinder Kaur, Balwinder Kaur, Baljinder Bunti, Sushil Malhotra, Satwinder Jawaddi, Meenu Malhotra, Inderjit Tony Kapoor and others.
