PAU TRAININGS ON CONSUMER AWARENESS AND MEDICINAL PLANTS

LUDHIANA, JULY 19:-----



The Punjab Agricultural University organizes training programmes for the benefit of farmers and farm women on different topics concerning scientific farming. A training on \'Consumer awareness for market malpractices and wise buying of household items\' will be held for 25 participants on July 19-20. Another training on \'Scope of aromatic and medicinal plants: Their processing and marketing\' will be held on July 20-22. The venue for these trainings will be Kairon Kisan Ghar on the University campus. The subject matter specialists will apprise the participants on health hazards of food adulterants, wise buying practices for child care articles, fraudulent practices on market products, testing of food adulteration, etc. The discussions will also be held on medical consumerism and related subjects in the first training. The second training will focus on the scope of growing medicinal, aromatic and spice crops in Punjab. The participants will be provided an insight into export procedures of agricultural commodities, tissue culture techniques of medicinal plants, processing into various products, constraints in production, etc. The discussion will also focus on business model for these new crops. The participants will be shown around herbal garden, processing labs and biotechnology lab for practical education.
