GADVASU gets ICAR Accreditation

The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) has granted accreditation to Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana and to its prestigious College of Veterinary Science for a period of 5 years up to 7th March, 2018 informed GADVASU Registrar, Dr. P.D. Juyal. The University in a short period of time touched the lives of farmers of Punjab and paved the way for significant improvement in production and productivity in the area of veterinary, dairy and fisheries. The veterinary college was started in 1969, has the glorious past, was accreditated with the ICAR earlier in 2004 and is presently rated among the top veterinary colleges of the country. It was created as a centre of excellence in research and teaching in animal health and production. The highly competent and experienced faculty members of the college have made significant contributions in research on animal health and production. Efforts are also being made to get accreditation from the ICAR for the College of Fisheries and College of Dairy Science & Technology, both established in 2008. These colleges have also excelled in the area of education and research in dairy and fishery sectors in Punjab and in the country as well. The university is strengthening the faculty of these colleges and has started the process for filing up of vacant post by advertising the post. The accreditation board has further recommended that in-breeding should be avoided and also the new schemes of the ICAR as such` Adjunct Professor, Best Teacher Award should be implemented.
