PAU INVITES APPLICATIONS FOR INNOVATIVE FARMER AWARDS 2013

LUDHIANA, JUNE 27:







The Directorate of Extension Education of the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) has invited applications from the Punjab farmers and farm women for the "Innovative Farmer Awards 2013," to be bestowed during PAU Kisan Mela, scheduled to be held in September 2013 on the main campus. Five awards, carrying cash prizes, plaques and citations will be conferred upon the innovative farmers for their excellence in agriculture and allied fields.







Giving details, Dr M.S. Gill, Director of Extension Education, informed that S. Dalip Singh Dhaliwal Memorial Award, carrying a cash prize of Rs 5000/-, will be given to self-cultivating farmer of field crops in the state of Punjab. The Parwasi Bharti Award, carrying a cash prize of Rs 8000/-, will be presented to self-cultivating farmer engaged in diversified farming system, he told.







Further, Dr Gill said that S. Ujagar Singh Dhaliwal Memorial Award, carrying a cash prize of Rs 3100/-, will be awarded to self-cultivating vegetable grower, who puts at least 60 per cent area of operational holding under vegetable crops in winter as well as summer seasons.







Dr Gill informed that S. Surjit Singh Dhillon Award, carrying a cash prize of Rs 5000/-, will be bestowed upon the self-cultivating small farmer (having land upto five acres) while Sardarni Jagbir Kaur Grewal Memorial Innovative Woman Farmer Award, carrying a cash prize of Rs 3100/-, will be conferred on the farm woman involved in agriculture and allied enterprises in the state of Punjab.







The application forms for the awards can be obtained from the Deputy Directors (Training) of Krishi Vigyan Kendras, Directors of Regional Stations, District Extension Specialists (Senior Most) of Farm Advisory Service Scheme, Chief Agriculture Officers, Deputy Directors of Horticulture in the different districts of the state and PAU Directorate of Extension Education, said Dr Gill. Informing that for each award, a separate application will be accepted, he told that the last date for the receipt of the applications in the office of PAU Director of Extension Education is July 30, 2013. The interested farmers of the state should apply for the "Innovative Farmer Awards 2013" in time, he urged.
