Naidu stalled formation of Telangana State: KCR

KARIMNAGAR, May 29, 2013:--

TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday lashed out at Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu for "obstructing" the formation of a separate State by egging on Seemandhra legislators to resign in 2009.

Participating as chief guest in the TRS Husnabad Assembly constituency political training classes for the cadre in the town, Mr. Rao said that Mr. Naidu declared on the floor of the Assembly that his party will support a resolution on statehood for the region on December 8, 2009. He, however, changed his stand after the Centre made an announcement on December 9. The TRS president called upon the people of the region to expose "the true colours" of the TDP by organising 'darbars' in all villages. He wanted to know whether a person from Telangana would be given a high post such as Chief Minister, party president, floor leader or Speaker in the event of the TDP coming to power.

Similarly, the YSR Congress also would not allow a Telangana leader to become party president or occupy important posts, he said and added that the Congress was following in their footsteps and meting out a raw deal to Telangana Congress leaders.

He alleged that Seemandhra parties were enjoying power at the cost of their Telangana counterparts. "Can we allow this situation to continue by remaining in united Andhra Pradesh?" he asked amid cheers. He called upon the people to elect only TRS candidates from all the Assembly and Lok Sabha constituencies in the coming elections to realise their dream of living with self-respect in the separate State.

Flaying Telangana Congress leaders for remaining silent when Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy said he would not allocate single paise to the region in the Assembly, he wondered whether they deserved to be re-elected. Reiterating that a Dalit would be made CM in Telangana state, he said no force could stop the formation of separate State.
