Indian twin sisters from Uttarakhand scale Mount Everest

Indian twin sisters, Tashi and Nugshi, who belonged to the state of Uttarakhand achieved historical feat by becoming first twin sisters to scale Mount Everest. Tashi and Nugshi, were also at the top of the Everest with Pakistan's Baig and Ali. By hoisting Indian and Pakistani flags side by side, the Asians hoped to spread the message of Pak-India peace and friendship.



The twin sisters hail from Kutalwali Johdi village of Uttarakhand. Their father Virendra Singh Malik served Indian army and retired from the designation of Retired Colonel.



Along with the twin sisters, Mountaineer Samina Baig also scaled highest peak in the world. She has become the first Pakistani woman to scale Mount Everest, the world\'s highest mountain peak at 8,848 metres.



Baig completed the climb with her brother Mirza Ali, who becomes the third and youngest Pakistani male to scale the mountain. In his personal blog, Ali described the climb as the first Pakistani gender equality at Mount Everest.

Members of Indian, Nepal Army scale Everest peak



Nine members of a joint team of Indian and Nepali Army personnel with a mission of cleaning up the Mt Everest successfully climbed the world\'s highest peak on Monday.



They reached the summit of the Everest situated at an altitude of 8,848 metre at 9:00 am (local time), according to a press release issued by Nepal Army.



Major Samir Basnet, Captain Kishor Adhikari, Sergeant Gyanendra Loudari, and Corporal Dhiren Shahi are the successful climbers from the Nepal Army side.



From the Indian Army side, Major Ranbir Singh Jamwal, Subedar Mingma Gurung, Havvaldar Sudhir Singh, Havaldar Chatar Singh, and Lance Naik Sukbir successfully stepped on the peak, according to the Nepal Army.



Jharkhand climber conquers highest peak



Susen Mahato, a rural youth from Jharkhand, climbed the Mt Everest on Sunday morning to become the fourth person from the state to conquer the highest peak in the world.



Another climber in the expedition team, Arunima Sinha, an amputee, is on the verge of creating history as she is expected to scale the peak on Monday. If she is successful, she would be the first amputee from India to achieve the feat.



Arunima, 26, was a national-level volleyball player who had lost one of her legs after being thrown off a moving train by hooligans two years ago.



Mahato\'s success coincided with the 60th anniversary of the first climb of the peak by Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay May 29, 1953.



Nine NE climbers scale Mt Everest



It was a \'red letter day\' for the Indian mountaineering fraternity as nine more climbers from North East India scaled the Mount Everest and raised the tricolor on Saturday.



Six climbers started their summit push from the South Col at 8 pm on Friday night and climbed whole night to reach the roof top of the world at 5.50 am (Nepal standard time) yesterday, Tsering Wange, president of Arunachal Mountaineering and Adventure Sports Association (AMASA) informed on Sunday.



They are Anshu Jamsenpa (Arunachal Pradesh-AP), Tarun Saikia (Assam), David Zohmangaiha (Mizoram), Wangshuk Myrthong (Meghalaya), Kazi Sherpa (Sikkim) and Nameirakpam Chingkheinganba of Manipur who become the youngest Indian climber at the age of 16.



Earlier on Friday, Nima Lama from Arunachal Pradesh, Bidyapati Devi from Manipur and Anand Gurung from Sikkim scaled the world\'s highest peak.



Anshu Jamsenpa of Arunachal Pradesh, the deputy leader of the expedition, became the first Indian woman to summit the highest peak in the world thrice.



She already holds the record of being the only mother in the world to summit Mt Everest twice in 10 days.



President Pranab Mukherjee had flagged off the first ever north east Mt Everest expedition on March 20.
