Jalandhar building collapse: Man rescued after 3 days

A factory worker on Thursday, Apr 19, came out of debris after a factory building collapsed in Jalandhar, Punjab. Over dozens of people were trapped under the debris.



Despite being trapped for three days, the survivor, Nitesh Kumar came out almost uninjured. Around 10 people have lost their lives, while 61 others have been rescued.



Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal visited the spot and announced that special safety audit should be carried on in all industrial units to prevent such accidents. The audits would be conducted by industries and local government.



Parkash told the reporters that the industries and local government department would conduct the audits to check out both latent and patent defects in the buildings.



Meanwhile, Police arrested the factory owner and a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder has been registered.
