Sikh Regimental Centre, Ramgarh, PSPCL Patiala & SAI Bhopal enter the Quarter finals of 26th Dashmesh Hawks All India Hockey Festival

Sikh Regimental Centre, Ramgarh, PSPCL Patiala & SAI Bhopal enter the Quarter finals of 26th Dashmesh Hawks All India Hockey Festival being played here in Hawks Stadium, Bela Road, Rupnagar.

In the pre quarter matches played here SRC Ramgarh beat Punjab & Sind Bank Academy by 5 goals to 2. PSPCL edged past Rock Rovers Chandigarh by a margin of 3 goals to 2 and SAI Bhopal out classed Sports Hostel Lucknow beating them by 6 goals to 5 via tie breaker.

In the first match between Sikh Regimental Centre, Ramgarh (SRC) and Punjab & Sind Bank Academy started on a brisk note with SRC team making early inroads in the rival territory and testing the rival defence. Goal keep Sourav Sharma stood his ground making brilliant saves, but SRC shot into the lead soon through Baljit Singh Junior who scored a field goal collecting a pass from Gagandeep Singh. SRC 1-0 up. SRC earned a short corner, but Sourav in the goal stood his ground. Punajb & Sind Bank earned two successive short corners, but both proved abortive. SRC scored the second goal in the 35th minute through Harjit Singh.Half time score 2-0 in favour of SRC. In the second half Punjab & Sind Bank got two short corners, but both proved abortive. On the other end SRC scored their third goal through Bikramjit singh to put SRC 3-0 up in the 41st minute. Punjab & Sind Bank reduced the margin in the 46th minute through Satish Singh who scored off a rebound from a short corner hit. Score (3-1) through Devinder singh ,SRC again scored through Baljeet Singh in the 54th minute to put SRC (4-1) up. Punjab & Sind scored in 60th minute to reduce margin (4-2). However SRC increased the lead through Bikramjit Singh in 60th minute (5-2) to clinch the issue.

In the second match between PSPCL Patiala v/s Rock Roves Chandigarh was played briskly with rival forwards testing the defence. PSPCL team earned a short corner in 6th minute, but Gurpreet Singh full back could not convert it . PSPCL scored through Ravinder Singh in 23th minutes. minute to put SPCL 1-0 up. Rock Rovers earned a penalty corner, but could not score. Rock Rovers continue to put pressure, but could no score. Half time score 1-0 infavour of PSPCL Patiala. In the second half dominated the proceedings for the start & got their second goal through Manbir Singh in the 40th minute to put the PSPCL team 2-0 up. Rock Rovers reduced the margin through Ajaib Singh in 22nd minute with a superb field goal.PSPCL earned their third penalty corner, but could not score. Rock Rovers got a penalty cover & converted it through Shil Dabas who lapped a rebond to score & putting his team level at 2-2 in the 62nd minute. PSPCL were awarded a penalty storke Kulvinder Singh made no mistake putting PSPCL 3-2 ahead. In the dying minute Rock Rovers wasted a golden chance when they failed to convert a penalty corner PSPCL won 3-2 to enter quarter final.



In the third match played between SAI Bhopal v/s Sports Hostel Lucknow The two young teams played 'man to man' marking aggressive Hockey at the fast pace. The forwards tested the reival defence & tried to sneak through. SAI Bhopal succeeded to draw first blood when Sanjeev Kumar scored in 18th minute to put SAI 1-0 up. SAI added an other goal through Baljit Singh in 20th minute to lead 2-0. Sports Hostel Lucknow scored through Sanjeet Singh in 31st minute to reduce the margin (2-1).In the Second half Sports Hostel Lucknow earned a penality corner but Bhopal goal keeper blocked the short. Renlentless efforts of lucknow team bore fruit when Haider Khan scored the equalized in 68th minutes (2-2 level). In the tie breaker SAI Bhopal scored four goals while Lucknow team scored three. So SAI Bhopal won 6-5.



Three matches will be played tomorrow between ITBP v/s SRC Ramgarh, Punjab Police v/s SAI Bhopla and CISF Delhi v/s PSPCL Patiala.

Sh.Inder Mohan Singh, SSP, Rupnagar, Sh.Jasvir Singh Rai, DSP,Smt. Pritam Kaur Bheora, Sh.Charanjit Singh Ghai, S.S. Saini and Sh.Monohar Lal Chopra, Sh.Indersen Chhatwal , Sh.Harinder Singh Cheema and Prof.V.P.Saini and Sh.Raj Kumar Bhalla were also present during the matches.
