TRAINING COURSE ON CROP PRODUCTION CONCLUDES AT PAU

LUDHIANA, MARCH 29:





A three-month training course on "Crop Production" organized for the rural youth, concluded today at the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU). Nearly 45 participants from various parts of the Punjab state participated in the course, which was supervised by the PAU Directorate of Extension Education.



In his address, the Chief Guest Dr M.S. Gill, Director of Extension Education, PAU, exhorted the youth to inculcate scientific spirit and temper in life. The youth must make key contribution to the field of agriculture and its allied sectors, he emphasized, while calling upon the trainees to maintain regular liaison with the PAU experts and use their technical expertise during the need of the hour. He distributed the certificates to the participants.





Dr T.S. Riar, Course Coordinator, said that this course is organized twice a year wherein the subject-matter specialists impart knowledge to the trainees about agriculture and subsidiary occupations. He informed that during the course, the University experts educated the trainees about crop production, horticulture, bee-keeping, mushroom cultivation, vegetable cultivation with focus on their insect-pests and disease management, marketing of farm produce, animal husbandry, and various other agri-activities. The participants were also taken to the farms of the progressive farmers for practical exposure.



The team of PAU experts was also present on this occasion.
