Separatists to meet Pak foreign advisor

Even as India is still in grieving for their soldiers killed brutally on LoC, Pakistan has already struck India's raw nerve by inviting Kashmiri separatists for a meeting with its visiting foreign adviser Sartaj Aziz to discuss the vexed Kashmir issue in the national capital on Sunday.

Pakistani high commission officials invited Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani, moderate Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and other leaders for deliberations with Aziz.

Separatists would be able to brief Aziz before he meets his Indian counterpart in New Delhi on Monday.

"Syed Ali Shah Geelani will lead a three member team that will meet Aziz", said Ayaz Akbar, chief spokesman of hard-line faction of Hurriyat.

Akbar noted they would be apprising Aziz about the execution of Afzal Guru and the human rights violations perpetuated in Jammu and Kashmir. "We would also like to make it clear that the bilateral dialogue with India is not going to solve the Kashmir issue. People of Kashmir are the basic party to this dispute", he said.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq too is leading a delegation to meet Aziz separately. "We have always supported Indian and Pakistani engagement. But we want engagement of people into the process for the settlement of Kashmir tangle," Mirwaiz said.

It will be the first meeting of the Kashmiri separatist leaders with new foreign adviser since Nawaz Sharif took over the reigns of the government in Islamabad.
