Nawaz Sharif to meet Karzai in London

Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif will take part in the ninth meeting of the World Islamic Forum where he will address the opening session of the Economic Forum on Tuesday. An official statement said he will also attend a trilateral meeting with U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron and President Hamid Karzai of Afghanistan.



Media reports quoted Mr. Karzai as saying that he will raise the issue of the whereabouts of Taliban leader Mullah Baradar who was released by the Pakistani authorities over a month ago to facilitate the Afghan peace process. Baradar is believed to be in Pakistan according to official sources but the Afghan authorities are saying that Baradar is not being allowed to move freely or access leaders of the Taliban.



Matters relating to Pakistan-U.K. bilateral relations will also be discussed. This is the Forum\'s first annual event in Europe after meetings in Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Indonesia, Kuwait and Pakistan. A number of heads of state from Muslim countries are attending the conference which will be addressed by Mr Cameron, the statement said.



The Forum was established to enhance the economic well-being of the people of Muslim nations and Muslim communities through increasing trade and business opportunities among them, as well as the world at large. It will discuss the economic and investment opportunities in the Muslim world and promote dialogue and cooperation between businessmen and entrepreneurs.
