BVM, Kitchlu Nagar, wins folk song contest of CBSE schools

The Sahodaya Inter-School Folk Song Competition for CBSE schools was organised by Guru Nanak Public School, Sarabha Nagar, on Wednesday.



As many as 25 schools participated in this competition. The event began with a shabad recital by the host school. Sukhvinder Singh Sukhi, a renowned folk singer, Manjit Roopowalia, a renowned Punjabi singer, and Santosh Basra, a Doordarshan artiste, were the judges. Contestants presented folk songs rooted in the life and culture of Punjab. Through their songs they brought to life the folklore of Heer Ranjha, Mirza Sahiba and Chhalla. BVM Senior Secondary School, Kitchlu Nagar, bagged the first prize. Springdale Senior Secondary School stood second. Jesus Sacred Heart School, South City, bagged the third position while an award of appreciation was given to Nankana Sahib Public School, Gill Road, and BVM Senior Secondary School, Udham Singh Nagar.
