In Oz, it was Ludhiana vs Chandigarh

LUDHIANA: Aug 25, 2012,

On the scoreboard, the match was being played between India and New Zealand, but on field, the U-19 World Cup semifinal clash in Australia looked more like a Ludhiana vs Chandigarh battle.

On August 23, as the young teams clashed in Townsville for a place in the final, Ludhiana-born Inderbir Singh Sodhi, or Ish as he is popularly called, was hoping for a repeat performance - he had played a crucial role in NZ\'s nail-biting quarterfinal match with West Indies. He was awarded the man-of-the-match in that important game for smashing 22 runs in 10 deliveries, leading his side to victory. However, the youngster managed only three runs and a wicket in the semifinal against India.

But for Prashant Chopra, who has been sharpening his cricket skills in Chandigarh\'s Sector 16 stadium, the day ended on a much happier note. This young opener for India played a patient 52-run knock against the Kiwis to ensure his side reached the WC final.

Earlier on August 20, Ish\'s slugfest had earned him the \'Super Sodhi\' tag. Batting at number 8, he helped NZ make 18 runs required for victory in the last over.
