‘Diagnosis of animal diseases’ training starts at vet varsity

Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana is conducting a five day training programme on Diagnosis of Animal Diseases from 27-31 Aug 2012 for Veterinary Officers of the State Animal Husbandry Department. Dr. B.K. Bansal Course Director revealed that a batch of 20 Veterinary Officers throughout the state is participating. The training will involve experts from different disciplines such as Veterinary Medicine, Pathology, Microbiology, Parasitology, Extension and Animal Disease Research Centre. During this training, veterinary officers will be imparted training on diagnosis of rabies, brucellosis, aflatoxicosis and other important bacterial, parasitic and blood protozoan diseases of domestic animals using conventional as well as advance techniques such as ELISA, PCR and serological assays. The latest approaches in management of various health disorders in animals such as lameness, bovine mastitis, mineral deficiency disorders, neurological problems, renal failure, toxicities, peritonitis, eye diseases and skin affections will be advocated. The training will be imparted on use of latest clinical techniques such as blood transfusion, eye examination, endoscopy, ultrasound and echocardiography in veterinary medicine. Dr. H.K. Verma Course -coordinator said that this training is very useful for field veterinarians. The Veterinary officers received hand on information regarding latest technologies in diagnosis. These types of new and latest interventions improve health of animals of state as well as beneficial for economic growth in these professions. Dr. S.K. Uppal technical coordinator of the training said that vet varsity has state of art laboratories so the trainee veterinary officers will be equipped with all the new technologies.
