DR. AULAKH APPOINTED AS FIRST VC OF MSKRJ UNIVERSITY OF AGRICULTURE AND TECHNOLOGY

LUDHIANA, JUNE 1:-----



Dr. Milkha Singh Aulakh, former Dean, College of Agriculture at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) has been appointed as the first Vice-Chancellor of Manyavar Shri Kanshiram Ji (MSKRJ) University of Agriculture and Technology at Banda, Near Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh, by his Excellency, Governor of UP. Dr. Aulakh has served PAU in various capacities in areas of agricultural education, research and administration for over 36 years. A soil scientist by profession, Dr. Aulakh has contributed significantly toward developing technologies for judicious use of mineral fertilizers, integrated nutrient management, etc. that have found application a the farmers fields. He is known for his scientific efforts for better understanding of how to manage soil nutrients for achieving economically the most viable crop yields of high quality while minimizing the environmental pollution. He has successfully developed and implemented educational programmes for enhancing the intake of rural students in agriculture.



The PAU Vice-Chancellor, Mr. Navreet Singh Kang has congratulated Dr. Aulakh for this achievement. This is a great honour for PAU, said Mr. Kang, adding that PAU has a credit of producing 34 Vice-Chancellors who are serving in different parts of the country. The Registrar, Deans, Directors and other officers of the University have congratulated Dr. Aulakh for this distinction.

Hailing from village Attari, district Amritsar, Dr. Aulakh has his education from GNDU (B.Sc. Agriculture), PAU (M.Sc.) and has his doctorate from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada before serving as a post-doctoral Fulbright scholar at University of Nebraska in Lincoln (USA), visiting scientist with USDA (agricultural research service), scientist at IRRI, the Philippines and collaborating scientist at Frounhofer Institute for Atmospheric Environmental Research and University of Freiburg (Germany). Dr. Aulkah has been members of several scientific societies and has more than 300 national and international publications to his credit. He has bagged several coveted awards, honours and recognitions. \'I owe a great deal to PAU from where I got my education and developed acumen\', expressed Dr. Aulakh while informing that he will be joining the new position in the first week of June.
