White Paper on rlys is totally blank: Lalu

PATNA : Continuing his tirade against railway minister Mamata Bannerjee\'s \'White Paper\' on the railways\' functioning, her predecessor and RJD chief Lalu Prasad on Monday termed it as \"neither white nor black, but totally blank\".

\"By presenting the \'White Paper\' without the Cabinet and PM\'s approval, Mamata is liable to face a privilege motion,\" Lalu said. He said the \'White Paper\' was the handiwork of a hired consultant who fudged figures. \"Yeh gandi harkat hai (It\'s a dirty trick),\" Lalu said.

\"Financial indicators of 2004-05 clearly mentioned the railways generated surplus worth Rs 90,000 crore which even Mamata failed to deny,\" Lalu said and added it was because railways\' finances were in good shape that he paid dividend to employees. \"If the finance was so good during Mamata\'s tenure, why did she fail to pay dividend?\" Lalu asked.

\"I want to know why this \'White Paper\' was presented in Parliament without the Union Cabinet\'s nod,\" the RJD supremo said, and alleged that the consultant had distorted the facts to tarnish his image.
