Sanju Baba turns 54 today

New Delhi: 29 Jul 2013,

Bollywood`s very own 'Baba' turns 54 today. Sanjay Dutt is such an actor who wowed us with his action stunts as well as with his mellow side. And when he was charged for possessing banned arms and ammunitions in 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts case many hearts were broken.

Sanjay Dutt made his debut in Rocky (1981). After which he acted in Vidhata, Jeeva, Naam and Taaqatwar. In the early years, Sanju had faced drug addiction. He underwent treatment for the drug addiction at the rehab center in US.

He then went on to act in Sadak, Khoon Ka Karz, Khal Nayak, Saajan,Vaastav. All these films were quiet successful at the box-office. Mission Kashmir, Jodi No. 1, Hathyar, Kaante, Munna Bhai M.B.B.S, Dus, Lage Raho Munna Bhai, Shootout At Lokhandwala, Dhamaal, Blue and All The Best: Fun Begins… were successful at the box-office.

However, he faced hard times in 1990s and 2000s due to his alleged involvement in the terrorist interactions and weapons possession. He was arrested under Terrorist and Disruptive Activities Act (TADA).

He made his comeback in 1999 with a string of films – \'Kartoos\', \'Khoobsurat\', \'Daag\', \'Haseena Maan Jayegi\', and \'Vaastav\'. No wonder he\'s known as the comeback king! His powerful portrayal of an underworld don in \'Vaastav\' won him his first ever Filmfare award for Best Actor.

The immense success of the movie 'Munna Bhai MBBS' (2003) has turned it into a series \'Lage Raho Munna Bhai\' (2006) that won him an award from Manmohan Singh. Another sequel is rumored to happen.

SANJAY DUTT`S BEST DIALOGUES

In a career spanning four decades, Dutt\'s on screen frank speak and peculiar dialogue delivery -- a mix of coarse and caustic has gone down famously with the viewers.

Khalnayak

Sharafat ki kitaab mein mujhe khalnayak kehte hain.Playing the whimsical, larger-than-life bad boy in Subhash Ghai\'s Khalnayak, Dutt gets into the skin of his character with a grubby get-up and (the afore-mentioned) popular retort to Madhuri Dixit\'s inquiry.

Aatish

Zindagi jeene ka mazaa tab aata hai, dost jab maut ki ungliyan thaamkar bhaaga jaaye. Sanjay Gupta\'s slick directorial debut captures Dutt\'s macho appeal and magnetism like never before.

Sadak

Ek baat yaad rakhna inspector main wapas aaonga. Us ladki ko chhupa kar, wapas zaroor aaonga Inspector. Aur us din aakhri baar teri photo zaroor chapegi, zinda nahi murda. Playing an aggressive character modelled around Robert De Niro in Taxi Driver turned Dutt\'s fortunes overnight after Mahesh Bhatt\'s Sadak became a huge hit.

Vaastav

Asli hai, asli! Pachhas Tola, pachhas tola. Kitna? Pachhas tola! The manic delight Dutt conveys in flaunting the obscene amount of gold around his neck while showering his displeased family with expensive gifts is one of the most effective moments of his critically-acclaimed performance in Vaastav.

Munnabhai MBBS

Do sau che type ka sirf haddi hai. Todne ke time apun log sochte the kya? Rajkumar Hirani\'s feel-good entertainer has tons to chuckle about. Including the time when an amazed Dutt discusses the complexities of human anatomy and the amusing indifference with which they disassembled it in their profession as goons.

Kaante

Udaa do saale ke bheje ko. Main bhi dekhna chahta hoon ke ismein ghaas bhara hai ya bhusa.Trust Sanjay Dutt to blurt the most hostile things and still make an impression.

Lage Raho Munnabhai

Jab dono gaal pe pad jaaye toh kya karne ka, yeh Bapu ne kaha apne ko. As the Gandhigiri endorsing tapori of Munnabhai sequel, Dutt responds to a guard slapping him on both sides of his face with a license to give it back since the icon\'s non-violence sayings never specified beyond \'offer the other cheek\' technicality.

Agneepath

Tum kya leke aaye the, aur kya leke jaaoge? Reh jayega sirf ek insaan -- sarv shaktishaali, sarv shaktimaan, Kancha! Sanjay Dutt\'s chilling menace as the bald, black-clad Kancha Cheena in Karan Johar\'s Agneepath is a visible departure from Danny Denzongpa\'s polished malice in the original.

Policegiri

Tere mein sur Osama ka ho, lekin märe mein power Obama ka hai. Even the super silly Policegiri, which released a few weeks back, packed in some masses-friendly quotes pandering to Sanjay Dutt\'s tough guy image.

Other than movies, Sanjay Dutt co-hosted Television reality show Big Boss 5 along with Salman Khan. Sanjay Dutt and entrepreneur IPL cricket team owner Raj Kundra together launched India\'s first professionally organized mixed martial arts league — the Super Fight League.
