NSS Cell of GADVASU celebrates Van Masotsava Week by plantation drive and Competitive Events

NSS Cell of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University celebrated Van Mahotsav Week by conducting plantation drive in different college campuses/hostel campuses of GADVASU and Govt Model Sr. Sec. School PAU campus during forenoon and ten competitive events such as creative writing, menhdi applying, poster making, painting, cartooning, rangoli designing, poetry reading, on spot oral speech, singing, dance solo competition in afternoon session under the supervision of Dr Syed Shabih Hassan, NSS Programme Coordinator, GADVASU, Ludhiana. He said that a total 150 NSS volunteers/students belonging from three colleges viz. College of Fisheries (COF), College of Dairy Science and Technology (CODST), GADVASU and Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (KCVAS), Amritsar participated in the plantation drive and competitive events. NSS volunteers planted more than 650 saplings of different species of shrubs, flowering, shaded and fruiting trees in different areas/locations in college campuses/school campus in Ludhiana. NSS volunteers got training in sapling plantation, soil digging, irrigating the plant, trimming for plants safety and how to remove unwanted weeds and arrange all accessory materials for successful sapling tree plantation. Many boys and girls of College of Veterinary Science and others were present to boost the morale of their near and dear ones during Sham-e-Ghazal programme of poetry recitation, singing and dancing competition. Dr Harbilas Heera, Dr N.K.Sood, Dr M. S. Alam, Dr S.P. Singh and Dr Tanbir were invited as judges for various competitive events during different time period.
