Movie Review: \'Bajatey Raho\' fails to leave an impression

26 Jul 2013,

Film: Bajatey Raho

Director: Shashant Shah

Cast: Tusshar Kapoor, Vinay Pathak, Ranvir Shorey, Ravi Kishan, Dolly Ahluwalia, Vishakha Singh

Jagran Rating:

The film showcases the youth\'s way of dealing with con against con in order to bring justice. With Dolly Ahluwalia as the protagonist, the film has an ensemble cast of Tusshar Kapoor, Vinay Pathak, Ranvir Shorey, Ravi Kissen and Vishakha Singh.

Vinay Pathak, who so far has impressed the audience with his superb comic timing, makes this time a serious appearance in the flick.

Ravi is seen as a cunning guy.

\"It was fun and a great experience. I really enjoyed it. I have never played this character before. When you have good co-actors, good script and good director, then it is good for any actor. The role was very good for me to perform. I have never done it before,\" said the actor in an interview. \"This is a fun crime story. It is a very fresh scripts. The USP of the film is the combinations of all actors,\" Ravi Kishan said.

Bollywood actress Dolly Ahluwalia who has been appreciated for her roles in films like \"Vicky Donor\" and \"Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana\", is playing the female lead in \"Bajatey Raho\".

\"I am playing one of the leads in the film and it was very enjoyable, refreshing and creative. It was entirely a different kind of film from what I have done earlier," she said.

Dolly, who plays Mrs Baweja in the film, is among the central characters of the script. She says she was on the \"seventh heaven\" upon hearing the concept.

\"Having said that, it made me really nervous as well because I realized that Shashant had instilled his entire faith in me. It is not an easy responsibility to handle, but I felt honoured,\" she added.

Shah, who had earlier helmed \"Dasvidaniya\", believes Dolly can easily drive this film through to the box office on her shoulders. \"She has the knack of a natural actor, which helped me throughout the film. She was brilliant to work with and I know for a fact that our decision to make her the lead of the film was absolutely correct,\" said Shah.

Story line: A bank employee Baweja is entrusted with the responsibility of a grand bank scheme but he unfortunately fall prey to a wicked plot of extracting money hatched by Sabharwal's (Ravi Kishan). The problems, police case and series of troublesome events, lead to the death of Baweja. His widow Dolly Ahluwalia (Mummy ji) and her family make a plan to dupe the devious businessman who brought grief to their lives.

Music review: The music album of director Shashant Shah\'s forthcoming revenge-comedy \"Bajatey Raho\" is made up of six tracks. While certain tracks are attention-grabbing, others are monotonous. The first track is \"Nagin dance\" sung by Anmol Malik. A good song to listen to, it could be termed as the highlight of the album. Singer Sona Mohapatra tries to lift everyone\'s spirits with the next number titled \"Khurafati ankhiya\". Talking about naughty eyes, the song fails to maintain a rhythmic pace. Fans of rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh would definitely tune in to listen to \"Kudi tu butter\". Although the song reflects the singer\'s carefree style of singing and lyrics have their Midas touch, it lacks lustre. The title track \"Bajatey raho\" disappoints, thanks to its non-impressive composition. It sounds out of place. Next in queue is the reprised version of \"Kudi tu butter\". Sung by Gajendra Varma, this one is \'music to ears\'. Yo Yo Honey Singh\'s rap sounds more interesting in this number than the original one. The last one is remix of \"Nagin dance\". With a lot of beats, and loud mixing to the original track, it is made for discotheques. The music album of \"Bajatey Raho\" lacks the kind of energy that would appeal to the masses. While more experiment could have been done with the compositions, it seems that the songs have been made because the movie needs them and not to tell a story to the audience. Certainly, it could have been much better.

Thumbs up: The film has some of the finest actors who have completely justified their roles on their part. Dolly Ahluwalia who is the main attraction of the story has performed outstandingly.

Thumbs down: Bajatey Raho is an uninteresting and illogical story with an overdose of forceful laughs. The loose narration leads to dampening of the comic value of the story. The strong cast is ruthlessly wasted as no powerful roles have been offered to them.
