Monument-cum-temple to be constructed at Amritsar

Chandigarh: July 24, 2013(7STARNEWS)Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal would lay the foundation stone of a monument-cum-temple along with a museum at Sri Valmiki Ashram (Ram Tirath) near Amritsar on the occasion of Bhagwan Valmiki Jayanti on October 18.



The Chief Minister today decided this during a meeting of Bhagwan Valmiki Tirath Vikas Board constituted for development of Sri Valmiki Ashram (Ram Tirath) under the chairmanship of minister Gulzar Singh Ranike.



Taking part in deliberations, Badal said the new temple would be constructed at a cost of Rs 115 crore and would be an engineering marvel.



He asked the architecture department of Guru Nanak Dev University to design and supervise the construction work besides providing structural designs within next two months and also approved a corpus of Rs 10 crore to be kept at the Board\'s disposal for routine expenditure.



Emphasising on the need for developing the site, Badal said devotees who visit the sacred place should experience an aura of divinity and serenity.
