EXPERTS DELIBERATE ON CULTIVATION OF SUMMER VEGETABLES AND PULSES DURING PAU KISAN CLUB MEET

LUDHIANA, APRIL 4:





A monthly training camp for the members of the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) Kisan Club including the ladies wing was held here today. About 350 farmers and the farm women from across the state participated in the training camp. Meanwhile, a state level training-cum- workshop for the members of the Progressive Beekeepers Association (PBKA) was also organized in which nearly 75 beekeepers participated.







The President of the Club, Mr PPS Pangli deliberated on the marketing of the farm produce with thrust on the international demand for basmati. He lauded the farmers, who are acting as the PAU ambassadors in different villages of Punjab under the "PAU Doots" concept, for the quick dissemination of farm technologies.







The President of PBKA, S. Sarwan Singh highlighted the vital role, played by the PAU in making the Punjab state emerge as a leader in beekeeping.







Highlighting the activities of the Club, Dr T.S. Riar, Programme Coordinator, laid emphasis on cooperative marketing and strengthening of farmer-scientist linkage for the agri-development.







Earlier, S. Amrinder S. Poonia, Secretary of the Club, welcomed the agri-experts and the club members. Dr (Mrs) Rupinder Kaur, Coordinator of the ladies wing of the Club, proposed the vote of thanks.







During the training programmes, the farm experts delivered lectures on the nutritional importance of fermented products, cultivation of summer moong and mash, cultivation of summer vegetable crops, post-harvest handling of garlic and onion, poultry farming, quality honey production and role of birds in agri-development. The PAU experts also imparted marketing tips for honey products and gave live demonstrations on the preparation of fermented products such as raita, drinks, and snacks.
