Ludhiana 28th April,2013 ….

"Importance of Vaccines for prevention and treatment of livestock diseases is of utmost importance. Regular Vaccination to wild, dairy animals and pets should be a regular feature" Dr. HS Sandha, , Director, Animal Husbandry Punjab Chandigarh, said these words while inaugurating the technical session of the celebrations of World Veterinary Day 2013, here in Vets Club Ludhiana.

According to Dr.Paramjeet Singh, Bibi Veeran Bedi, Councilor, Ward no. 57, Municipal corporation Ludhiana, inaugurated the Free Antirabic Vaccination, Deworming and Deticking camp as a part of the celebrations of World Veterinary Day 2013.

World Veterinary day is celebrated throughout the world in April every year. This year it is being celebrated today, on 28th April all over the world. For this year, Theme for Veterinary Day 2013 is VACCINATION – IN PREVENTION & CONTROL of Diseases. Vets Club Ludhiana (established 1977) is working for the cause of livestock. "Vets Club Ludhiana", an NGO working as a Socio Scientific Organization celebrates this veterinary day every year.

In the first session a FREE ANTI RABAEIC VACCINATION CAMP for dogs / cats was organized in club's premises. Free vaccination, Deworming and Deticking of pet animals was done by veterinarians. Bibi Veeran Bedi inaugurated this free camp. Pet lovers from nearby area brought their dogs for expert advice and vaccination of their pets. 84 dogs were vaccinated during the camp.

In the second session, a Technical session was organized.

Dr H S Sandha, Director Animal Husbandry, Punjab was the chief guest.

Prof.Dr.K K Baxi, President of club and Ex Dean, College of Veterinary science, welcomed the guests and delegates. All the dignitaries on the stage Lighted the Lamp for World veterinary day 2013 celebrations. Bouquets were presented by lady veterinarians of the club.

According to Dr Paramjeet Singh, Secretary General of the club, In the technical programme keeping in view the theme of this year World Veterinary Day 2013 i.e." VACCINATION – IN PREVENTION & CONTROL of Diseases." special lectures were presented by eminent scientists Dr Ajit Singh Prof. & Head Microbiology, Veterinary university, Hissar, Prof Dr. LD Singla, Head Microbiology College of Veterinary Science, GADVASU Ludhiana and Dr MP Gupta, senior veterinary officer, Chatt Bir Zoo.

Dr. H S Sandhu, Dean college of Veterinary Sciences, GADVASU, Ludhiana, presided over the technical session.

Prof.Dr.P N Dwivedi, did his duty as Floor Coordinator.

Delegates clarified their queries. In discussion it came apparent that timely vaccinations of animals and human being are of utmost importance, not only in prevention of diseases but also in controlling of the diseases.

Children declamation contest was also organized. Cultural programme presented by doctors of club. In the late evening there was a dinner for all.
