Ushering New Year with Gur Shabad :- ISP Network

FREMONT: As part of the Tercentenary celebrations of Gurtagaddi Diwas of Guru Granth Sahib, the Sangat at the illuminated environs of Gurdwara Fremont welcomed the New Year at the Lotus Feet of the Guru. Dedicated to the mission of Sarbat da Bhala –Welfare for All, Guru-Sangat was present in large numbers to participate in the long Kirtan and Katha session organized by the Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee. Kirtan was performed by a number of Kirtani Jathas and Katha by famous preacher, Bhai Pinderpal Singh.

After a very long time, unending queues of the Sangat from the wee hours of 31st December till the early hours of the New Year could be seen at the Gurdwara Sahib. They had from far and near –from the Bay Area, Stockton, Tracy, Montika, Madesto, Sacramento and some even from Yuba City.

As the Sangat was enjoying the rendition of Gurbani Kirtan within the precincts of the Gurdwara Sahib, volunteers from Bombay Garden, Kabila and Tandoor restaurants were offering a variety of food as part of the Langar at the Shaheed Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale Memorial Hall. Amidst the freezing cold, sipping tea and coffee, people were exchanging New Year greetings.

Police Chief commends Gurdwara Committee

FREEMONT: In an email message to the Gurdwara Fremont management, the Fremont Police chief, Craig Stakler has appreciated the arrangements and volunteerism of the Gurdwara Committee to regulate traffic on New Year's eve. The police chief and his staff were at the Gurdwara from late 31st December evening till the break of the New Year.

Addressed to Gurdwara president, Harjot Singh Khalsa and Gurdwara Council member Gurbaksh Kaur Kahlon, he expressed satisfaction at the parking arrangements and said that barring one or two incidents, everything went off well. Only those who inspite of warning and advice by volunteers, insisted on wrong doing were penalised, he further wrote. He expected that in future gatherings too such efforts would be done.

Harjot Singh Khalsa appreciated the role of the Fremont police, in particular of police Chief Craig Stakler and his whole team who sacrificed spending the New Year with their family and friends.

In perhaps one of the longest Kirtan sessions anywhere, for 29 hours the Sangat listened to Gurbani Kirtan, which effort of the Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee was hugely appreciated by the Sangat.

Harjot Singh Khalsa, the president of the Gurdwara thanked Guru Sahib and the Sangat for their cooperation and made a particular mention of Bhai Kashmir Singh Shahi and Bhai Nirpal Singh who jointly ensured that the movement of traffic and parking of vehicles was done in a smooth and efficient manner to the satisfaction of all. This effort was applauded by the Fremont police too.

He also thanked all the restaurant people for their Langar contributions. He further appreciated the contribution of Bus transport services for the Sangat by Tarsem Singh. He thanked Gurdeep Singh of G. N. Enterprises and members of the Supreme Council of the Gurdwara Sahib.

Others whose contribution cannot be forgotten include Davinder Singh Chana, Jai Singh, Ajmer Singh Nijjar, owners of 7/11 stores, Rampal Singh of Singtax, Prof. Lali Dhanoa, Dr. Jotpreet Singh Shahi, Tejinder Singh Dhami, Kuldeep Singh Bajwa, Balbir Singh Gakhal, Inderjit Singh and photographer Gurwinder Singh.
