DATES FOR SEVEN PAU KISAN MELAS TO BE HELD IN SEPTEMBER 2013 ANNOUNCED

The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) has announced the dates for the series of seven Kisan Melas (farmers' fair), scheduled to be held in September 2013 in various parts of the Punjab state.



Giving details, Dr M.S. Gill, Director of Extension Education, said that the first Regional Kisan Mela will be organized at TarnTaran on September 2, followed by that at Ballowal Saunkhri (District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar) on September 4, at Gurdaspur on September 6, and at Faridkot on September 10. The two-day Kisan Mela on PAU campus will be held on September 13 and 14, he told, while informing that the Regional Kisan Melas at Rauni (Patiala) and Bathinda will be held on September 18 and 20, respectively.



Dr Gill said that the melas will familiarize the farmers and farm women with the latest farm innovations, and advanced agri-technologies for the forthcoming rabi season. Besides, the farmers' fair will provide an opportunity to the farming community to visit exhibitions and technical stalls, interact with the subject-matter specialists, discuss their farm issues and seek on the spot solutions for the same. He told that the farmers can also purchase new seeds, planting material, and farm literature and publications during these melas.
