Official in Durga\'s team survived three attacks on life

Noida: August 02, 2013(7STARNEWS)Greater Noida sub-divisional magistrate Durga Shakti Nagpal was not the only one targeted by the mining mafia. Two days before her suspension, district mining officer Ashish Kumar, with whom Nagpal was leading her drives against illegal sand mining was transferred to Bulandshahr.

Due to their proactive stand against the sand mafia, both Nagpal and the Gautam Budh Nagar district mining inspector were on the radar of the mafia and their political masters.

In fact, 41-year-old Kumar has survived three attempts on his life. The last attack happened on February 9 this year after which an FIR was lodged against 20 people. Only four were finally sent to jail.

Even Nagpal was attacked by the sand mafia at Kasna police station on April 26 and her two security guards had to fire several rounds to deter the attackers.

Reports suggest that Nagpal may have walked into a trap when she ordered the demolition of a wall at a Kadalpur village mosque. Video of senior Samajwadi Party leader Narendra Bhati emerged on Thursday where he claimed he got Nagpal suspended within 40 minutes.
