The Anti-Narcotic and Anti-Illicit Liquor Smuggling Wing of Ludhiana police on Saturday arrested Gurtej Singh of Ladian kalan, who is student union president at GGN Khalsa College, Ghumar Mandi, and Amanpreet Singh alias Gholu alias Jyoti of Haibowal Khurd. The police recovered two illegal pistols, 13 bullets and a car from their possession.
Both of them confessed that they had got pistols from Uttar Pradesh for Rs 80,000 as a matter of \'status symbol\'.
The accused are students of BSc (IT) at GGN Khalsa College.
Sub-Inspector Harbans Singh, incharge of the Anti-Narcotic and Anti-Illicit Liquor Smuggling Wing, said the accused were produced before the court on Sunday. The court remanded them in one-day police custody.
